Justice Department Pushes Ahead on Microsoft

AP: Justice Department asks appeals court to move ahead with antitrust case
. “Granting a (delay) would further delay the public’s remedy and contribute to uncertainty in the market,” Assistant Attorney General Charles A. James and other government lawyers wrote in a court filing.

It’s good to see that the Bush Justice Department has come around to the obvious — that Microsoft must be brought to account for its repeated lawbreaking.

If the Supreme Court does take Microsoft’s appeal, and if there’s a stay on any action in the meantime, we might as well agree that it’s safe to break the law with impunity. Let’s hope this isn’t what occurs, or we’re all in trouble.
