Adobe Does the Right Thing

Wired News: Release the Russian, Adobe Says. “We strongly support (federal copyright law) and the enforcement of copyright protection of digital content,” Colleen Pouliot, general counsel for Adobe, said in a statement. “However, the prosecution of this individual in this particular case is not conducive to the best interests of any of the parties involved or the industry.”

Thanks to Adobe for coming to its senses. And thanks to the Electronic Frontier Foundation for its timely intervention.

But this should have not happened in the first place. It’s not at all clear that the government will recognized the unjustice it’s creating with this situation, and even if Adobe backs off there’s no assurance the government will.

Stay tuned. Let’s hope this is over and done with, quickly.
