Disengaging from Microsoft

It won’t be easy, and it won’t be quick, but I’m going to work to see if I can get myself off of Microsoft software. There’s no way to do wean myself from Microsoft completely, given its pervasiveness.

And I regret it in some ways, because I like Microsoft’s software a great deal in some cases. It’ll be interesting to see how far I can take this.

More in my Sunday column.

(Note: One of the spurs for this was Dave Winer’s notion of having a “Microsoft-free Friday,” where we’d visit Scripting News with other companies’ browsers. I ended up getting Opera for this purpose.)

What’s the best way to go Microsoft-free?
