More Insecurity via Microsoft

BugTraq: NoHTML v1.2.0.0. NoHTML.dll is an Outlook Add-in designed to convert HTML-based emails into harmless messages. It works slightly differently for Outlook 2000 than it does for Outlook 2002. Does not work with Outlook 98, or any version of Outlook Express.

This tool looks handy especially today, given the latest e-mail worm circulating through our systems.

Of course, if Microsoft paid more than lip service to security, it would build this tool into Outloook and Outlook Express. It would also let users install a patch without having to find the original CD of Office.

But the truth is that Microsoft has always considered security an afterthought. It has always cared more about preventing you from making an unauthorized copy of Office than letting you keep your computer safe.

If I wasn’t obliged to use Outlook, due to my company’s unfortunate reliance on Exchange servers, I would switch to a safe e-mail client in about two seconds.

Does anyone know of a commercial ISP that offers SSH or SSL e-mail connections? .
