*That’s “ready for prime time” — and, once again, the installtion of the most popular Linux distribution, Red Hat, has failed miserably and in a way that cannot be recovered without reinstallation. As if that will do much good, though I’ll give it another try.
It’s almost amusing, in a grim kind of way. I have only succeeded once in getting Linux properly installed on one of my computers. This was several years ago, and I had help from an expert.
I’ve said this before, and nothing has changed my mind. Linux distributions simply do not handle the installation well. They’ve improved, but the average user would not attempt this more than once.
My machine is a built-to-order clone with totally name brand parts — no odd hardware at all. It’s ridiculous for this kind of thing to occur, yet it does again and again.
