Microsoft Continues to Stall

Microsoft, continuing to thumb its nose at the legal system, has appealed its antitrust conviction to the Supreme Court. It’s now saying that the appeals court should have completely oveturned the verdict because U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson was talking with reporters.

Jackson’s conduct was unfortunate at best. But he didn’t do it until after the trial testimony was finished.

The friendliest set of judges Microsoft will ever encounter was the appeals court. They read the record. They found — unanimously — that Microsoft is a lawbreaker. And they properly removed Jackson from deciding what should be done with this lawbreaker.

Microsoft is doing one thing here — stalling for time. This unrepentant monopolist recogizes that justice delayed is justice denied, and it’s playing every legal card in the deck to avoid justice.
