Mercury News: 45 percent of customers to avoid PG&E outages. The threat of rolling blackouts that comes with this week’s expected high temperatures means nothing to nearly half of Pacific Gas & Electric Co.’s electricity customers.
This is going to infuriate people. If half of the population has to bear the burden of incessant blackouts, that is a plainly unfair situation.
The only way to make this fair is to charge more to the people in the “Block 50” exempt-from-blackout areas. They are getting what they pay for — reliable power. The rest of the population is not.
Politicians are going to need to pay attention. Their constitutents will not stand for this.
