Salon: The music revolution will not be digitized. The dust is clearing from the online entertainment wars. Who won? The record labels. Who lost? Consumers.
For the moment, anyway. But the industry is still kidding itself if it thinks it can ultimately bludgeon the rest of the world into doing things its way, and only its way.
Why am I confident about this? Because the industry can’t help but overreach. The record companies and their henchmen a the Recording Industry Association of America are off-the-scale arrogant after their recent victories. Hubris brings trouble, sooner or later.
