Mercury News: Bush to put medical-data privacy rules into effect — with changes. The announcement is a victory for consumer groups that have complained that sensitive medical information could be sold or used without a person’s consent. The Bush administration does, however, intend to revise the rules, which originally were offered in the Clinton administration’s final weeks.
Looks like the test will be in the revisions. But it’s surprisingly good news that this administration has gone ahead with the rules in general.
