AOL Time Warner — More Reasons to Worry
Wall Street Journal: AOL rolls out interactive TV with Time Warner links. Yet many observers feel the most promising cable market may not be Internet access but the set-top box that controls interactive TV and holds the most precious real estate in all of media — a TV welcome screen.
AOL and Time Warner are doing us all a favor with their continued arrogance and anticompetitive moves. They keep demonstrating why this merger shouldn’t be allowed to proceed without strict conditions maintaining competition.
On the Road For the next five weeks I’ll be in Asia, a semi-repeat of my visit there a year ago. I’ll be teaching a seminar part-time at the University of Hong Kong, where I was a visiting lecturer last fall.
Hong Kong is an incredible city, full of more energy than any other place I’ve visited. A friend called it “Manhattan on speed” — and I think he got it about right.
Besides teaching and tourism, I’ll be hunting for some interesting people, technologies and ideas to tell you about.
