As predictable as it is discouraging, the online stock trading marketplace lures the gamblers among us, as the Wall Street Journal reports today.
The Journal writes: For many Americans, online trading has gone from a novelty to a fixation in the space of just a few years. In homes and offices everywhere, it’s helped turn the personal computer into a round-the-clock casino, letting people who wouldn’t otherwise think of themselves as gamblers plunge into endless hours of high-risk speculation.
It brings to mind the amoral, cynical billboards E*Trade is running along Highway 101 in Silicon Valley. The most memorable said something to the effect of “Someone Will Win the Lottery. Just Not You.”
In other words, forget the state lottery. Come gamble with us here — online.
How do they sleep at night at E*Trade?
