In the past 24 hours I’ve received three requests from entrepreneurs to give them advice. They’ve asked me to be on advisory boards, or to help them find venture capitalists and so on.
Here’s a slightly edited version of my reply to the most recent request. It’s much like the response I give to all such queries:
I hope you’ll understand why I must decline. It would be inappropriate for me as a journalist to be on an advisory board or have any financial stake in an enterprise that’s involved in the industry I write about. Good luck on your new venture, however, and please keep us informed about what you’re doing.
